Vanessa Hudgens Announces 'A Coming-of-Age Story,' a Documentary About Her Witchcraft Journey

The 33-year-old High School Musical alum revealed on Friday that she has joined forces with Bunim-Murray Productions to create a documentary.

The project, titled Dead Hot: Season of the Witch, follows Hudgens and her best friend, musician GG Magree, as they travel through Salem, Massachusetts.

The 90-minute film is described as a "intimate journey into the supernatural realm" that serves as a "coming-of-age story that explores identity, feminine power, and magic."

According to Variety, the film was created after Hudgens and Magree agreed to seek proper mentorship and training in the art of witchcraft.

"They've been doing little spells since they were kids, and they've just been really interested in that world," Bunim-Murray president Julie Pizzi told Variety.

Despite being a fun shoot, she explained that the project took on a deeper meaning as it progressed.

"As we got to know them, we realised that their interest in connecting with the spirit realm, as well as paranormal and supernatural exploration, went far beyond ghost hunting."

Hudgens told Kelly Clarkson, the show's host, that she's had "a lot" of run-ins with spiritual beings over the years nd a"accepted the fact that I see things and hear things."
